FAQs

How do we begin?

Once we have decided to work together, you will receive next steps to join sessions through an encrypted and secured HIPAA compliant video conferencing software.  You will be able to create a client portal to complete paperwork, to participate in virtual sessions, make payments, etc.

Do you accept insurance?

Yes. However, at this time I only accept United Healthcare and CareFirst. I do not accept any other insurance carrier or Medicaid. Payment is due at the time of service.  I accept cash via Cash App and debit/credit card for any copays or out-of-pocket payments.  If you have none of the insurances mentioned above, I will give you an invoice so that you can submit it to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement.  Some insurance carriers reimburse their members a full or partial payment for the session.  I recommend that you call your insurance carrier to learn your options so that you can make an informed decision.  Please understand that insurance companies have access to your mental health information once you decide to use your insurance.

What does confidentiality mean in therapy?

The therapist/client relationship is built on trust.  The therapist is responsible for keeping what has been discussed and shared in session in confidence.  Nothing is shared without written consent from the client.  However, if a client is in danger, wants to hurt self or wants to hurt someone, by law the therapist is mandated to breach confidentiality and to report information to the appropriate authorities to ensure everyone's safety.

What is Teletherapy?

Teletherapy is a platform used for the therapist and client to meet without physically being face to face.  There could be many reasons as to meet virtually such as our current global pandemic, inclement weather or simply for convenience.  In order to maintain confidentiality, both the therapist and client agree to use a private space during the sessions.
